"Will I have any redemption for what blood spilt tonight? No. I'm beyond any chance for that. But was it worth it to see my love again? And if I had to, would I ever do it again? Absolutely." Sir Isaac Chumandi, 1583
Open Hoenn Seas
The soaked group of Jenna, Ina, Maggie, Jake, and Becker were pushed down onto the deck of the lead ship. Their unrecalled Pokémon were thrown down onto the ground as well, but unlike their trainers, who were surrounded by men with guns as they got up and had their Poké Ball belts removed, they were surrounded by a group of enraged Mightyena, Manetric, Rhydon, Arbok, and a large Arcanine wearing a Quick Claw hanging from a metal chain around his neck. The Arcanine was looking only at the soaked Luxray.
Pride gasped at the sight of the Quick Claw. He recognized it from a while ago... it was once his own. The last time he had even seen it was around the neck of a Ninetales he once fell in love with. Before she left his life, he had given it to her to remember him bye. Now, seeing around the neck of his arch enemy... it was quite ironic.
If you're going to kill me,)" Pride asked the Arcanine, "(can you not rip my jugular vein out in front of these kids? Just break my neck, man.)"
"(Wow Pride,)" Koops whispered, "(that was totally weak. But then again, I'm not the idiot who slept with his cousin, so
"(Shut-up,)" Pride growled through gritted teeth. "(It doesn't help us escape this if you remind him and me about me and Alkaid. I still like her, but
it's not like I'll ever see her again.)"
"(But still, you enjoyed it.)"
"(I'll admit that, too, but stop talking about it. He's probably still mad.)"
"(What are you guys talking about?)" Sakura asked the two.
"(Something you'll learn when you're older,)" Jadis cut in, having heard the conversation.
"(You all do realize I can hear you guys, right?)" the Arcanine finally spoke. All of them stopped arguing amongst themselves, and turned toward him with sheepish smiles. "(If you're thinking I'm angry with you, Pride, for that stupid stunt, then you ought to know that I'm not.)"
So, you're not mad?)" the Luxray questioned.
"(Oh, thank Arceus,)" Pride replied, lowering his guard. "(I thought you were still going to kill me about- whoa!)" the Luxray barely ducked out of the way of a Flamethrower, courtesy of one pissed as hell Arcanine. "(I thought you said you weren't mad!)"
"(Oh, I'm beyond mad,)" the Arcanine snarled before lunging at Pride, pinning him down with one paw, much to the others' shock. "(Keep his Blastoise friend occupied,)" he snapped at the Pokémon under his command. "(I want this kill for myself!)" One of the Mightyena leapt at Koops, knocking onto his back, leaving him virtually helpless.
"(Koops!)" the Luxray yelled, "(a little help, here!?)"
"(Dude,)" Koops replied while pushing the snarling Mightyena away from his throat, "(I've got my hands full
"(Napoleon!? Jadis!? Kids?)"
"(We're a little busy, here!)" Jadis answered, pushing a Houndoom away with a Metal Claw while Napoleon was holding a Gliscor's pincers away from his neck. The kids were both confused and scared by the situation. So, Pride had no defenses to prevent the Arcanine from sinking his teeth into-
"Raja!" someone spoke up. Everyone looked as a lanky man in his mid-late twenties with tanned skin, a shaved head, one hazel green eye and one dark brown eye, and a Drunk Skeleton tattoo on his exposed right arm, wearing a blood red bandana around his head, a dark green wife beater shirt, black pants, and a pair of dark brown boots. "Off of him. You can have your revenge soon enough," the man scowled at the Arcanine.
You are a lucky bastard,)" Raja growled while removing his paw from Pride's chest. He turned away, letting the Luxray begin to stand
only to turn back around, and swipe Pride's side with his claws, drawing blood and making the Luxray roar in pain.
"(Even though in the long haul I deserved more than just that,)" Pride grimaced while looking at his new scars, "(I thought he was going to wait.)" He then went to help Napoleon get Koops back up.
The new man glared at Raja in disappointment, but turned towards Jake with a sadistic grin, revealing a set of crooked teeth. "Squall," the man greeted, "so nice of you to join us." He pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter while he scanned the group. He casually pulled one out and lit it before eyeing Jenna. "So, you're Jenna Canelli," the man greeted before placing the cigarette to his lips and inhaling. Exhaling, the man commented, "You know
you and Raichu have been giving my current employer a hell of a time. And not in a good way. But you are pretty
attractive." He shook the box towards her, as if he was offering her one.
"I don't smoke," Jenna instantly declined, to which the man placed away the cigarettes. Jenna turned to Jake, and whispered. "Is that guy
"Rico Sanchez?" Jake instantly finished. "Sadly, yes. That's the same asshole that happens to be the leader of the Drunk Skeletons and has been trying to kill you. He and I just happen to hate each other because of what happened to his-"
"Squall," Rico questioned while looking at Jake's injured shoulder and pulling out a golden Ambassador pistol, "do I have to shoot you in the other shoulder or what?" Jake instantly stopped talking. Looking towards the group of unrecalled Pokémon, he commented, "Jake, you and your Pokémon have cost me so much trouble in the past, and you've done a lot of stupid things. And now that I have you at my mercy, Squall
helping Canelli will be your last. For now, I have you, her, her Raichu, and the gold... all in my sights." However, he noticed something wrong with this picture
Ross wasn't there. "Where's Chumandi?"
"When your chopper blew our boat to hell," Jake answered, "we lost him and a few other Pokémon belonging to Jenna."
"That wasn't one of mine," Rico answered. "Someone else must be heading towards Blank Slate, and caught you guys heading there. It's the closest place one could swim to
" The lanky mercenary thought about it for a minute, and then grinned. "If you help me find the treasure, Jake
I'll let your little group go free."
"What!?" Jenna asked.
"I'll tell Bane you're dead if you cooperate," Rico answered. Pointing his gun at her, though, Rico warned, "Refuse, and I'll make it a reality. However
Jake dies either way." Everyone looked at the man who Rico confirmed was going to die before this was all over- Jason "Jake" Squall. Jake had a dark scowl on his face, as if he was playing out scenario after scenario in his head- all resulting in his untimely death. If he refused, they all died. If he went along, he'd eventually die... unless something went his way. And considering his bad luck and frequent injuries, that was unlikely.
Either way Jake looked at it, this was a lose-lose scenario. No matter what he did, Jake was going to die. However, he could at least get the others out...
Ina began to question, "What the hell makes you think that Jake would even-"
"Deal," Jake and Becker simultaneously answered Rico. The girls all turned to the two men in confusion while Rico's men began cheering and hollering that Jake was giving himself up. Their victory over him- and their payment by Bane- was finally at hand after Jake had ended several of them.
"What the hell are you doing!?" Maggie hissed to them both. "There's no way he'll let us go with the footage I have and his grudge against Jake!"
"We lost our guns when the boat sank," Jake whispered, "and the longer we cooperate, the longer we get to keep breathing until someone can change the status quo in our favor. You're right that he won't let me live either way, but you guys have a chance for survival if we go along with it. I'm damned if I help him, and damned if I don't. I'm at least letting you guys get out of this."
"That's kind of sweet of you," Jenna smiled at him, making him blush. Rico rolled his eyes, not hearing what Jake whispered.
"Jake," the lanky man scowled, "when I eventually slit your throat and watch you bleed to death, I'll make sure your girlfriend Canelli watches." Jenna blushed at the insistence that Jake was her boyfriend, while Jake's blush grew another shade of red.
"I hate you, too," Jake replied. Rico just filpped him the bird before turning to his men.
"Take us to Blank Slate... and somebody keep tabs on Squall. I don't want anything to go amiss tonight." As the ships headed straight toward Blank Slate, a certain soaked redhead emerged from the sea on top of a Swampert. After taking several deep breaths, Mark looked down at Gill.
"This is why you're my starter," the redheaded treasure hunter thanked Gill. Looking at the ships, he asked, "You think you could follow them without detection?"
"Swampert," Gill replied before surfing after them.
Saria's head swirled in agony as she woke up. The last thing she remembered was Pride's overcharged shot piercing the helicopter, killing its occupants, and her narrow escape from the crash, only to be tossed overboard before the ship capsized
The ship. Ross. He had called her name before she fell in. Ross, her friends, her master, her sister
they could all be hurt! Or worse, dead! The Leafeon forced her eyes open
and looked into the eyes of a certain Froslass
who had her lips on hers. Upon the realization that Saria was awake, Yuki gasped, and moved her head away, and both of them began to cough- Yuki in embarrassment, and Saria to get whatever salt water that was still in her body out.
"(Thank Arceus, sweetie,)" Yuki sincerely smiled at the young Leafeon after cleaning off her mouth, who realized she just received CPR- specifically mouth-to-mouth. As Saria quickly wiped out her mouth in embarrassment while awkwardly coughing, Yuki explained, "(You had me scared for a moment that you drowned back there.)" Saria cautiously got up, and watched the Froslass float back from her. The Froslass remembered the way that they met- it wasn't exactly on friendly terms. Her boyfriend had knocked out Ross, Saria tried to save Ross by attacking his kidnappers, and would have stopped them had Yuki not froze her from the neck down. Saria deserved to be in a careful stance.
However, as cautious around the Ice-type the Leafeon had to be, she remembered it now: when she was underwater, the Froslass swam over to her, and grabbed her before she passed out due to the mixture of water in her lungs and pressure of the waves and the impact of hitting the water so hard. "(
Did you save me?)" Saria asked, looking out from where they were- the sun had set, they were both soaking wet, and were on an old looking dock.
"(Yes, I did,)" Yuki replied with a smile. "(I didn't want to look bad with Chumandi by letting his girlfriend die on me. I know what I did back at your little ranch was bad, but leaving you for dead
I'd never forgive myself for it, and I'm willing to bet Chumandi wouldn't forgive me, either.)" Despite being in cold seawater on a Froslass' back for Arceus knows how long, Saria's face instantly warmed up by that one comment.
"(H-H-How did you-)"
"(Know that you like Chumandi?)" the Froslass mischievously answered similarly to a certain Mismagius. "(Simple. The way that you defended Chumandi from my boyfriend and especially Margaret- where you'd have to have some kind of death wish to do even that, by the way- sort of gave me a clue, but you just gave it away by saying so. The fact that Margaret told me that you were practically going to rip Mark's head off when he said Chumandi was dead, though, gave me enough information that you and he are an item
or want to be.)" Yuki had lost count how many shades of red Saria turned in that next minute. "(But enough about that
I also saved you because unlike Margaret and maybe Raiden, I'm an honorable thief. I don't kill people or let innocent people like you die. Besides, we met on
"(True,)" Saria replied, her blush returning to normal, "(but are you just saying that?)"
"(Absolutely not, sweetie.)" Looking inland, the Froslass whistled. "(I think I know where we are.)" The Leafeon looked inland as well, and her mouth dropped in shock at the sight of an aged cinderblock tower and a large, old wall with a wooden door in the side. "(We're in Blank Slate.)"
"(As in the prison Sir Isaac destroyed to find his love, Pucca?)" the Leafeon remembered Ross' description. "(Where the real El Pokémon de Dorado is?)"
"(Perhaps,)" Yuki replied, not sure if that was true or just another dead end. "(Well, since we're already here
we may as well check this place out.)"
"(We?)" Saria asked the Froslass in slight fear. Ross said that the place was haunted
perhaps worse than the Old Chateau and maybe the Lavender Town Tower.
"(Don't worry,)" the Froslass answered while floating towards the door. "(Anything in here has been dead for four hundred years at least. If anything, it's most likely Ghost-types like me. And I'm quite fast for them.)" That was true- Saria didn't even see the two Powder Snows coming until the last second. She herself was very fast, but the Froslass could move when motivated.
"(Just don't leave me, okay?)" Saria questioned as she walked after Yuki.
"(Once we find our boys,)" Yuki smiled, "(I'll be out of your fur if you want
promise.)" Yuki was about to open the door, but she then remembered something. "(By the way
that whole mouth-to-mouth thing I had to do to save your life
that was not a kiss. Hell, it never happened.)"
"(Right,)" Saria agreed. The Froslass opened the door, and the two girls walked into the prison, hoping to find Ross and Goom before it was too late. However, as they headed in, a few helicopters began to fly over towards the prison
With Ross and Vincent
"(I can't believe you convinced me to come in here
without Veruka!)" Vincent complained as the two crept through the abandoned prison. Ross' lightning bolt part of his tail was lighting their way, making sure they didn't walk into any traps or dangers. Ross looked at Vincent, a similar scared expression on his face.
"(I can't believe I convinced myself to come in here
without our master and Veruka!)" The Raichu looked around, noticing all of the skeletons that were sprawled throughout the prison. "(Man
Sir Isaac's raid tore this place apart.)" He was about to walk towards a new corridor he spotted, but then the Raichu noticed a tugging sensation on his tail. Ross turned to see Vincent clinging onto his tail for dear life.
"(Don't go anywhere,)" the Lucario begged the Raichu. Ross smiled at Vincent in perfect understanding. Vincent's phobia of the dark practically paralyzed him without either a light source or Veruka's encouragement. And, considering all Ross had to light their way was his tail, the Raichu had really no choice but to keep Vincent within a two-foot parameter.
"(Hold onto my tail, and let's keep moving,)" the Raichu suggested. "(Hopefully, we'll find a lantern or something. We'll need some flint steel or lantern oil as well, because I can't read Isaac's diary and hope to figure this place out with my tail alone.)" As luck would have it, the duo's search for an oil lantern didn't take too long. Because one of the human skeletons that the two found about partway down the new route they were walking happened to have an old lantern clipped to his belt, and a container of old lamp oil.
After lighting the lamp with some electric sparks to heat it up, Ross handed it to Vincent for safe-keeping while he set his backpack on the ground. The Raichu fished out Isaac's diary, and was about to open it when he heard someone's voice yell, "(
ill someone please answer this thing!?)" Ross and Vincent both jumped at the voice, the latter nearly dropping his lantern. Ross then remembered something from earlier
Pride slipped a walkie talkie into his backpack, but he never got around asking the Luxray why.
The Raichu grabbed the orange walkie talkie out from his bag, and slowly asked, "(
"(No, but someone who knows him,)" the voice, now revealed to be female, answered. "(You finally picked up
Mr. Chumandi, I assume?)"
"(Can everyone stop calling me by my new surname?)" Ross grumbled, somewhat annoyed with it. "(After everything I've been through, I've come to hate it.)"
"(Then what should I call you?)"
"(How about 'Ross?')" the Raichu suggested. "(Now, I have to ask
who are you?)"
"(Has Pride mentioned someone named 'Scramble?')" the female voice asked him. Ross and Vincent remembered from back when they met Pride about two weeks ago. The Luxray said that there was someone named Scramble who was watching after her Happiny at home
that only meant that Scramble was either a Chansey or a Blissey. And that Chansey or Blissey was talking to them over the radio.
"(How did Pride even get this radio?)" Vincent questioned. "(Let alone, how did you guys even set this up?)"
"(Apparently,)" Scramble began, "(he got it from the kids that had been in that submarine you found them in, and he used it to call me. If he didn't report in within every two hours, I was to call Mr. Ross, here, hack into a radio satellite from Mr. Drake's computer in my location, and use the global positioning chips I had Pride install into your radio yesterday to track you down.)" Both boys looked at each other, completely lost by Scramble's clarification. She could apparently tell they were confused, so she simplified, "(I'm a very smart Blissey.)"
"(Indeed,)" Ross finally replied. "(Now, Scramble
why did Pride do all of this?)"
"(That psychotic Luxray?)" Scramble giggled over the radio. Getting serious, she explained, "(Mr. Ross, despite Pride's violent, psychotic, and- in my opinion- self-destructive nature with his career path and his filthy sailor's mouth, he's a pretty sensitive guy. Almost as sensitive emotionally as I am physically and emotionally. He'll probably hate me for telling you this, but he wants you to not hold any form of a grudge against him, me, our friends, and Jake because he wasn't there to help you out and Jake's offer eventually lead towards your current situation. This is why he wants me to help you. He knows I'm pretty smart, and he knows that I'm risking my neck here, hacking into satellites. But I'll help him, because he's helping me get through a hard time in my life. And besides
you remind me of a Pokémon I once knew with your voice, Mr. Ross.)"
Wow,)" both Vincent and Ross breathed.
"(Indeed,)" Scramble replied. "(Now, enough about Pride
time for what he's called me in for.)" There were a few clicking sounds, like small hands were typing on a keyboard. "(Alright, boys
from my little tracking, you seem to be in the middle of the sea
but yet, you're not underwater.)"
"(Try Blank Slate, against our will,)" Vincent explained. "(We washed up on shore here, and kind of need a map or something so we can hopefully get to Slateport and maybe even reunite with our master
"(Radio technology hasn't gotten efficient enough to send layouts, yet,)" Scramble replied, "(but I think I might be able to get something on Blank Slate
why on earth are you guys there?)"
"(Honestly,)" Ross replied, "(many people have reason to believe that there's a gold statue that I supposedly own. We were heading back to Slateport to get away from Bane and drop Mark off when a helicopter attacked and capsized our ship thanks to an overcharged shot by Pride.)"
"(Interesting,)" the Blissey announced over a few more keystrokes. "(Okay, there's not really much info on Blank Slate on the internet since it had never been brought up to public attention until Mr. Becker Drake's biography, but what is here are several possible layouts... and that Slateport City police are aware of its existence. Describe your current location for me, and I'll find it on the best layout I can find.)"
"(Well,)" Vincent began, "(we're in a dark hallway, there are corpses all over the place
is that an R?)" The Raichu and Lucario were staring at a large, black R over a rotting Tropius corpse.
"(Sounds like you're smack dab in the middle of the R Cell Block, one of the outermost cell blocks in Blank Slate.)" After a few more keystrokes, the Blissey explained, "(Your best hope to get off of the prison island is the Ampharos Signal Tower in the center of the facility. Once there, you're going to need to relight the signal tower by any means necessary. It might be old fashioned, but Slateport City's police are the only living souls on the planet who know about Blank Slate enough to respond quickly to the signal tower being lit for any reasons necessary.)"
"(Great!)" Vincent smiled, glad that rescue was at hand. "(So, do you think they'd rescue us?)"
"(There's a ninety-seven percent chance they will get you guys to Slateport City, no questions asked.)" Ross and Vincent looked at the radio in confusion. Only ninety-seven percent chance of a rescue?
"(What's the other three percent chance?)"
"(They'll mistake you for terrorists invading the region like Teams Magma and Aqua did a few years ago, and blow you and what's left of Blank Slate sky high,)" the Blissey answered in a matter-of-fact tone.
Hoping that the three percent does not cause us any more misfortune than the rest of the past week has been full of,)" Ross awkwardly asked, "(can we get directions to that signal tower?)"
"(I thought you would never ask after I told you that,)" the Blissey giggled. After a few more keystrokes, Scramble answered, "(The fastest way from your location would be-)" Suddenly, the Raichu and Lucario's ears twitched. Vincent grabbed Ross, and threw them both out of the way of a large boulder flying towards them, letting the skeleton of a Numel be crushed instead. The fire in their lantern that Vincent dropped while avoiding the attack had gone out, leaving them sightless for a while. Ross once again had to divert electricity to his tail to get a decent light on the place.
"(Holy crap!)" Ross gasped as the two stood up, and looked to see a Rhyperior angrily stomping towards them, his horn spinning wildly.
"(We're going to die,)" Vincent breathed. The Rhyperior tried to bring a Hammer Arm down on them, only for Vincent to slam a Force Palm into his stomach, knocking him back away. The Rhyperior chuckled at the feeble blow- there was not a paralyzing effect with it. Without batting an eyelash, he just raised an arm, and back-handed the Lucario into a wall.
"(What's going on over there!?)" Scramble yelled at them, unaware of the situation. Ross, in the confusion, dropped the walkie talkie, and was a bit far from it to reach it and keep dodging the Rhyperior, who had turned his attention towards him.
"(Master Quinn said that we need ya alive, Chumandi,)" the Rhyperior grinned. "(However, he didn't say I couldn't rough you up a little bit!)" Ross had to dodge out of the way of a powerful Megahorn that lodged his large opponent into a wall. While his foe was humorously attempting to pull himself out, Ross turned his attention to Vincent.
"(Vincent, are you okay?)" the Raichu asked, sparking up his tail to check up on his larger comrade.
"(Did somebody get the number of that van?)" the Lucario dazedly asked back. Great
this meant Ross would have to fight solo for at least a few minutes. So, Ross quickly swiped his paw on the ground, setting up for the battle just as the Rhyperior yanked himself out of the wall. Ross knew he was greatly disadvantaged: his opponent was not only larger than him, but he was also disadvantaged in power and type-wise- his Electric moves weren't going to do any notable damage, and it wasn't like the Pichu evolutionary line was known for its durability.
But his objective wasn't to win
it was to stall until Vincent, who was better suited for this kind of fight, to recover from the impact of the front of his head meeting the Rhyperior's backhand and the back of his head meeting the old cinderblock wall. Lucky for him, the Rhyperior was thinking Ross was fighting to escape.
"(You're lucky I'm on orders,)" the large behemoth commented, rubbing his sore horn. "(Otherwise, for that little smart move, I'd pound you to a nice little red-orange paste!)" The large Rhyperior ran over towards Ross with the intent to just knock him out and take him back alive. However, Ross just sidestepped the charge as the Rhyperior tripped over a Grass Knot that Ross set up- the old dirt floors in Blank Slate were perfect for this kind of trap, and, given the body mass of the Rhyperior, the impact really hurt.
Getting up, the Rhyperior turned around, not too happy with falling for Ross' move. But he noticed Ross' pulling back a hand, and unleashing it forwards, releasing a gust of ice. The Rhyperior cringed at the blow of the Ice Hidden Power. However, as much as it hurt him, he was refusing to go down. After Ross stopped the attack, he set up another Grass Knot, this time near a wall. The Rhyperior was luckily enraged enough to try to ram him with a Take Down. However, Ross rolled out of the way, and let the Rhyperior trip and slam into another wall. Ross was about to run, only for the Rhyperior's left leg to suddenly raise up, and Stomp down straight on Ross' tail. Combined with the two bite wounds Chewy left him within the past two days, the pain numbed
"(Okay,)" the Rhyperior grumbled, annoyed by how he fell for that twice. "(This little joke of yours just got old, Chumandi.)" Pulling himself out of the wall and relocating his jaw, he looked at Ross, who was frantically trying to pull his tail out from under the Rhyperior. "(Unless you have a new spin on that, I'm not falling for any more angry Tauros crap.)"
"(Good,)" Ross smiled. "(I don't have to keep it up anymore. Isn't that right Vincent?)" The Rhyperior turned towards the right to have several cinderblock fragments slam into his face by the Lucario's Stone Edge. The stones meeting his face were enough to get him to trip off of Ross' tail, setting him free. Vincent soon rushed towards the large Pokémon, and started slamming open palm after open palm into the Rhyperior's face. However, the Rhyperior grabbed Vincent's torso, whipped around, and slammed the Lucario back into the wall.
The large Pokémon soon grabbed Vincent by the neck, and madly grinned as he prepared to impale the Lucario-
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The Rhyperior's back was soon the target of a powerful Seed Bomb attack, making him drop Vincent, who was wheezing on the floor after his strangling. When the Rhyperior turned to face his assailant, only for his head to snap back when he was hit with a powerful uppercut, spitting up quite a bit of blood. Before he even got a chance to recover, a powerful left hook slammed into his face. The Rhyperior finally fell after the Dynamic Punch, revealing a certain, soaking wet Breloom.
Hi,)" the Breloom smiled at the two, walking past the unconscious Rhyperior and towards them like the memory of the ambush had already disappeared. Turning to the dropped lantern, he asked, "(How's it going?)"
"(G-Goom!?)" Ross stuttered. He was surprised to see the Breloom he who offered to take him home after they somehow escaped Bane with the treasure of El Pokémon de Dorado was free from his Poké Ball and had followed him here. The Breloom ignored Ross' surprise, and clicked his fingers. The lantern soon lit back up, revealing Goom had used a Fire-type Hidden Power. "(What are you doing here!?)"
"(Same reason you are- after the boat capsized and Yuki and your girlfriend fell overboard, I swam here looking for my love.)" Ross' face was soon a dark red as Goom came back over with the relit lantern, offering it to a somewhat scared Vincent. After the Lucario quickly snatched the light source away from him, Goom noticed the way Vincent and Ross were looking at him- Ross was embarrassed by the fact that Goom remembered his crush on Saria, and Vincent was wary of him
as if the next minute, Goom would stab him in the back, take Ross and the lantern, and go after the treasure. "(Don't worry, I'm not here for you guys,)" the Breloom waved off, looking towards the suspicious Lucario. "(But honestly, can I hang with you guys until I find Yuki? I'll be out of your hair for the rest of eternity after I find her.)"
What?)" Vincent warily asked Goom. The Breloom sighed at him before turning away from the Lucario and Raichu duo. "(After everything you and your trainer have done, you turn around and ask for our help?)"
"(I know you have no reason to trust me after everything we've put you through. But
Yuki's probably the only person besides Gill and maybe Mark and Pride who's ever given a damn about me and my opinion, and Mark's care is lacking lately, Pride doesn't trust me one-hundred percent anymore- I can't blame the guy, though- and Gill can't keep supporting me forever. And after what I'm doing right now, no way I can go back to those guys unless I want sign my own death warrant. Mark got himself into this mess, and his methods have gotten poorer in taste throughout the years
not to mention with Margaret getting more psychotic. I'm either going to find Yuki and go out on our own with her
or I'm dying.)" Placing his back against the wall and his arms spread out as much as he could, Goom declared, "(Hell, if you wanna kill me, go ahead and do it, now. I'm already dead to myself, but
I want my body to catch up by seeing this coming.)"
Both Ross and Vincent looked at each other in shock. The radio on the ground spoke up, "(While I myself deplore murder, I can't do anything about it from my position, guys. And
I'm completely aware that Goom kidnapped you and put you into this situation, Mr. Ross, so if you want revenge, it's your call, but please do it quickly and quietly. He seems sincere to me, though
Not to mention he did just save your life. But if this one right does not justify all of the wrongs Mark inflicted on you
Goom, what makes you think Yuki would come here?)" Ross decided to change the subject while letting the thought about what Goom has done sink in. Goom was the one responsible for taking him from the ranch right as Ross was about to reconsider leaving. And his girlfriend Yuki hurt Saria, another thing Ross was not approving of. However, killing was not something Ross supported, no matter how mad someone made him outside of his rage form. Not to mention Goom and Yuki were planning to get him back home to the embrace of his friends and family, and Yuki saved Saria from Margaret's wrath. Maybe he'll let him live. When the Breloom realized Ross was not going to kill him yet- and Vincent had yet to make a move- he lowered his arms and stance.
I can feel it,)" Goom remembered. "(She and I have some crazy bond that was formed when we fell in love. She's here in Blank Slate
and so are these guys.)" The Breloom was referring to the Rhyperior he defeated. "(No doubt Quinn's here
and I think the Drunk Skeletons and Bane's men are going to show up.)"
Funny,)" Ross announced, looking at Goom. "(Once Vincent calmed me down
I think I realized
Saria might be here, too.)"
"(So, we're in agreement this time?)" Goom smiled at him, much to Vincent's confusion. Both Ross and Goom noticed the Lucario's questioning look.
"(I'll explain later, Vincent,)" Ross simply told him before extending his paw, shaking Goom's hand. "(We'll work together for now.)" Picking up the radio, the Raichu warned him, "(No funny business, okay?)"
"(Deal,)" the Breloom replied as the three began to walk through the halls. Looking at the Lucario and Raichu beside him, Goom explained, "(I like to look a man in the eyes when I make a deal with him, Chumandi. I have a feeling we're going to be an interesting team. You, me, and
your friend here. We're going places.)"
You're a big Raichu, Mr. Ross,)" Scramble sincerely commented over the radio. "(I'm not exactly sure your ancestor, given Isaac's
ill history, would have done the same, nor would anyone else who had been tormented by a traitor would have. Um, sorry, Goom.)"
"(It's alright,)" the Breloom announced. "(I've lost any chance to redeem myself for this. But I will be
I will be damned if I let Yuki and Chumandi both die in here.)"
"(Pretty bold, but watch your language. I recently put little Vivian to bed for the night, and I don't want her to wake up and hearing language like that.)" She paused for a few seconds before continuing, "(Mr. Ross, I don't know you're easy to forgive, or you're just a nice person
but I'm glad you didn't kill Goom. Now, you know where you're going, right?)"
"(Actually, we kind of got attacked by a Rhyperior when you were explaining,)" Ross replied.
"(Well,)" Scramble concluded, "(maybe that explains the reason why global satellites are picking up helicopter activity at your coordinates right now. However, since I'm hacking into Hoenn police satellites to track you down, that is why you won't get help from them
unless you give them a more indirect signal
"(It's just as simple as that?)" Vincent sarcastically questioned. "(Oh good, I was afraid it was going to involve fighting our way through a bunch of mercenaries and Ghost-types to the interior.)" Ross, Goom, and even Scramble had to laugh at Vincent's humor.
"(Listen,)" the Blissey explained. "(The fastest way to the signal tower would be through G Block, which is through a couple gates. And if Bane's men, Quinn's Men, and those Skeletons are all in here
may Arceus have mercy on you. Call me back when you get to G Block.)" The radio turned off, leaving the three to themselves.
"(Here we go,)" Goom shrugged as they walked through the abandoned prison, hoping to avoid detection by either groups
South Docks of Blank Slate
Jenna's group was lead off the boat by the Drunk Skeletons, their guns trained on him. Rico walked in front of the group, making sure they didn't do anything he didn't like. "Jake," the lean man scowled, "I'm keeping a very close eye on you. If you say anything I don't like
"Well, can you be a little more specific?" Jake demanded. Rico rolled his eyes before curling his hand into a fist, and slamming it into Jake's face, making the others gasp as the browned haired treasure hunter nursed his sore nose. "
"You want specific?" Rico questioned as Jake made sure his nose wasn't bleeding. "Shut the hell up, and don't talk unless you're spoken to, or, God as my witness, I'll rip your jugular vein out with my bare hands, stuff it up your ass, and whatever Raja doesn't eat of you after I feed you to him
I'll use for a scarecrow."
"Okay," Jenna squeamishly moaned, "that's disgusting!" Rico ignored her comment, and motioned to Pride and Raja, the former being watched with hate by the latter. The groups' other Pokémon were all let out, and surrounded by the Drunk Skeletons' Pokémon, who were prepared to kill them if provoked.
"Luxray," Rico ordered, "your job is to use your eyes to look for Chumandi
and his little golden statue. If you can't find either
" he then pointed his gun at Jake.
Pride, you're better off letting me die," Jake simply told the Luxray. Rico scowled, and looked at Koops. "They hate each other if you're thinking pointing a gun at Koops will intimidate Pride."
"(Guy doesn't know my weakness,)" the Luxray smugly smiled at Raja. "(Jake may be crazy, but he's pretty willing to take a bullet for me, and it's true about me and Koops. Dude, your trainer has nothing on me.)" Whatever amount of patience in the Arcanine had chosen that minute to snap. He lunged at the Luxray, and his own teeth set aflame to break Pride's neck.
"(I have been waiting for years to kill you!)" Raja snarled. Holding his toes to a narrow slit, Raja continued, "(I'm probably this close to having an excuse to do so! Now, if you want to live even a nanosecond longer, you'll cooperate!)" However, Pride was prepared, as his mouth sparked to life with a Thunder Fang this time around. The rest of Jake's team sunk into battle stances, ready to help Pride survive whatever Raja and his crew attempted any attempts on Pride.
"(And you think I wouldn't give my life to make sure you don't get the treasure!?)" the Luxray retorted, nipping at the Arcanine's leg, making him back away. "(I'd rather go into the deepest, darkest, hottest pits of hell than let you get this treasure that belongs to Ross Chumandi!)" Pride got up, and growled at Raja, and the two sunk into fighting stances.
"(Then let me grant your wish,)" Raja countered. The two's teeth lit up with their respective elements yet again, and they were about to lunge-
"(PRIDE!)" Iris gasped in shock at the two's preparation to rip each other apart. Both looked at the Glaceon's worried face with mixed reactions. Pride's face yielded his regret for making her worry, while Raja was initially confused, but soon had a sinister grin while his teeth's flames died. He swiped his large paw into the side of Pride's face while he was distracted, once again knocking the Luxray down.
"(If you don't give a damn about your own life
)" the Arcanine scowled at Pride. Looking at his trainer, Raja motioned over to Iris before rushing over and, before she could move away, picking her up by the scruff of her neck with his teeth.
"(Put her down!)" Veruka scowled at the Arcanine, and was prepared to jump at him
if the two Gliscor behind her weren't holding her back.
"Iris!" Ina gasped in horror as Raja casually walked over to his trainer, and roughly dropped the Glaceon to the ground in front of him. Iris was about to scramble back towards her trainer, only for Rico to stomp on her tail, making her yelp in pain before he picked her up- again, by her neck- and held his pistol to her head, much to Pride's horror as he recovered from being clocked.
Feel like cooperating now?" the lean man asked Pride. The Luxray reluctantly turned towards the prison, and began to walk to it, his x-ray vision activated. Rico turned to the group, and said, "Now that Jake's Pokémon has been chosen, and I have this little Glaceon
the rest of you are allowed only one." Jenna returned everyone of her Pokémon but Veruka and the kids she didn't have Poké Balls for, Ina returned Jadis, Maggie chose to keep out Digit (who was holding her camera again), Becker returned Lizzie and Victoria, and Jake placed his other Pokémon back. Rico scowled at Jenna and the young Pokémon.
"I would return the kids, but my boat was kind of blown up before I even got to port to get their Poké Balls."
"Fine," Rico grumbled. "I could use a bit more
motivation for the Luxray." Turning to his men, he ordered, "Watch the little brats. If they try anything
or worse, these bastards give me any form of trouble and I report it to you
kill the lot of them. And if I don't report back in an hour
start killing these brats one at a time." He then ordered the group, "March or die
your choice." With that, Jenna's group followed Pride, along with Rico and a few of his mercenaries. As they walked, Ina looked at Jake with worry.
Do you think that Pride can find Ross or this stupid treasure everyone keeps talking about?" she asked him.
"For Iris' sake," Jake whispered to her, "Pride has forty minutes. He's already used his x-ray vision two times today
he can't hold a single burst longer than twenty minutes without straining his eyes, and he can only use it four times a day. But Pride's a professional; he hasn't lost a countdown."
"(Had to put more pressure on me, didn't you, Jake?)" the Luxray grumbled as he entered the hole. Looking back at Iris, he sighed in shame before heading further in, followed by the others. Meanwhile, in the water, Mark and Gill only watched the group head in, looked at the mercenaries, back to the young Pokémon they were watching over, and the entrance. Unclipping a certain Poké Ball, Mark grinned.
Saria and Yuki looked around the hall, making sure nothing was coming out of the walls to get them. "(You think with a rundown place like this,)" the Froslass told her ally in her search for Goom, "(there would be more ghosts. I guess they live in the deeper parts of the prison.)"
"(I'm personally glad we haven't seen any,)" the Leafeon spoke up, still worried something would happen. "(Especially not any Shedinja.)"
"(True,)" Yuki agreed with a giggle. "(Their Wonder Guard really got annoying back when I was a little Snorunt
. But now that I'm a Froslass, I can take care of those hollow shells without Goom's Fire Hidden Power.)" She then questioned, "(But why are you concerned with that specific Ghost-type?)"
"(You mean there are more Ghost-type bugs, now!?)" the Leafeon anxiously asked. It instantly clicked why the Leafeon was worried- she was afraid of bugs.
"(Don't worry, sweetheart,)" Yuki smiled, patting Saria on the back to calm her down. "(There aren't any creepy Ghost-type bugs in this place
besides, Shedinja only show up when somebody evolves a Ninjask, there's an additional Poké Ball with them, and they have five or less Pokémon in their party. The worst we're going to have to worry about is a swarm of Gengar and Haunter.)" However, she narrowly avoided a Rock Blast, courtesy of one of the three Graveler in the hallway, now. The Froslass, upon sight of them, stopped moving. The Graveler took one menacing step forward, which she responded by floating backwards, letting out soft whimpers.
That's when Saria jumped in. She jumped right in between Yuki and the Graveler, placing a leaf to her muzzle. She then began to gently blow on it, making the Graveler drowsy, eventually causing them to collapse. After all of them fell asleep, the Leafeon confusedly turned towards the crying now Yuki. This was strange to her. Yuki was the brave, older woman who was acting as a mother figure to her, and yet, here the Froslass was, crying because of nearly being hit by a Rock Blast. "(
Is something wrong?)"
I'm scared of Rock-types,)" the Froslass admitted, looking at the sleeping Graveler. "(When I was a little Snorunt, a poacher with a bunch of Rock-types attacked me
I was easily outmatched because I hadn't learned Icy Wind, yet. One of the Rock-types, a Sudowoodo, was about to either kill me
or worse, I'm not sure. That was when Mark first came
and how I first met Goom. I tried to convince him to come to my aid, but he ignored my cries for help. I thought I'd lose my innocence or die, right there because someone didn't give a damn about me, and had told his Pokémon not to help a begging Snorunt
but Goom did.
"(Goom went against Mark's orders and, even though he was outnumbered, he took them all on. When he was tiring, Gill and Margaret joined in on the fight, under a reluctant Mark's command. I didn't see the whole fight because I passed out as Goom was coming over to check on me
but when I woke up, I had found myself at a Pokémon Center, with Goom asleep next to my bed since he healed quickly thanks to his Toxic Orb and Poison Heal Ability. I fell in love with Goom after that incident. When I'm with him, I feel a lot braver than I am. But still
whenever I see a Rock-type, I-)"
"(Freeze up and look for him to protect you?)" Saria finished. "(Funny
you and I are more alike than we know. That's the same way I'm with Bug-Types and Ross
"(Maybe we should bury the hatchet,)" Yuki smiled, looking at her new friend. "(Listen, about Chumandi
I'm sorry about kidnapping him right in front of you and freezing you.)"
"(It's alright, now...)" the Leafeon replied, extending a paw in friendship, which the Froslass gladly shook. Looking at the Graveler, she asked, "(How do you think they survived 400 years? Not too many Pokémon can live that long
"(I don't think these guys are inmates or guards,)" Yuki answered. "(
Remember the helicopter? I think Bane or that Quinn guy found Blank Slate, and has dropped men and Pokémon throughout the prison to find El Pokémon de Dorado
and possibly, Chumandi.)"
"(Ross is still in trouble, then,)" Saria concluded, walking around the Graveler. "(We better find him before these guys do
"(Agreed,)" Yuki smiled as the two carefully snuck past the Graveler, hoping to avoid more of Quinn's mercenaries
or Bane's men. This is going to be a long night.
